How do I wash my silk pillowcase?

To preserve the natural softness and luster of your silk, hand wash in cold or lukewarm water with a pH-neutral detergent. If you prefer machine washing, place it in a mesh laundry bag and wash on the delicate cycle with like colors. Do not wring. Gently press out excess water with a towel, then hang or lay flat to dry. If needed, use a cool iron or steamer on the reverse side.

What are silver ions and why are they used in ZILK pillowcases?

Silver has been valued for its cleanliness properties since ancient times. Silver ions are charged silver atoms that interrupt the ability of bacteria on a fabric surface to multiply. ZILK silk is treated with SILVADUR, the silver-ion technology developed by DuPont. Based on SILVADUR testing, the treatment inhibits 99.9% of bacteria growth on the fabric surface, so your pillowcase stays fresher between washes.

Momme (pronounced "mo-may") is the unit used to measure silk's weight and quality. A higher momme means a denser weave and more durable fabric. While many silk pillowcases are made with 19 or 22 momme silk, ZILK uses 25 momme, a denser and smoother weight that holds its finish wash after wash.
